Larry Keith Scott
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jean Scott and father, William “Bill” Scott. He is lovingly remembered by his uncle, Don Scott of Athens, AL; aunt, Ann Knight of Neenah, WI; and seven cousins, whose lives he touched with kindness and quiet strength.
A proud veteran, Larry spent six years serving in the United States Navy aboard an aircraft carrier. It was there, surrounded by the roar of jet engines and the wide-open skies, that he discovered his passion for aviation. After his military service, Larry earned his pilot’s license, fulfilling a dream born from his days at sea.
Larry later relocated to Jackson, Tennessee, seeking the comfort and warmth of family ties. He worked with dedication at Kellogg’s, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike. When his father’s health declined, Larry selflessly stepped away from his career to provide care and companionship, embodying the commitment he felt so deeply toward those he loved.
Larry will be remembered for his unwavering sense of duty, his love of flight, and his gentle, generous spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of honor and devotion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be missed.
A service to celebrate the life of Larry Scott will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the service. Following the service, Larry will be taken into the care of Gipson Funeral Home in Lufkin, TX for a graveside service and interment in Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
