‘Citizen Police Academy’ gives a closer look into daily law enforcement operations
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Citizen Police Academy returns to the Hub City.
Citizens are once again getting an opportunity to see behind the scenes of daily operations in law enforcement.
This is an eight-week program designed to educate and provide lessons on criminal law and investigation, to exploring community policing strategies.
This creates an opportunity to gain more trust for officers and makes a difference in the community.
“We’ll have different entities come in and speak with them from the SWAT team, to CID, to other spaces as well. We actually have one of the lieutenants from out patrol division which is the foundation for our police department,” said Sgt. Patrick Cozart with the Jackson Police Department.
The police academy meets every Tuesday night from six to eight, and participants must be at least 21.
