North Henderson Church of Christ celebrates a century of services

HENDERSON, Tenn.—One Chester county congregation is celebrating a century of faithful service to the Lord.

The North Henderson Church of Christ located at 567 Luray Avenue in Henderson hosted its 100 year anniversary event Sunday.

The celebration began with bible study, followed by a worship service that included a message delivered by Bro. David Meeks.

The congregation then joined together to enjoy a delicious fellowship meal and a special presentation in observance of its anniversary.

“We started out on Beechwood and then we moved down here. We’ve been down here for some years. I’ve been down here about 50 years. We just try to keep the doors open and try to get the young members in. We don’t have as many young members, so we’re trying to get the young members to come,” said James Burton, church member, North Henderson Church of Christ.

The church, originally known as Lucyville Church of Christ, was established in 1923 as Lucyville community members sought out a way to share the gospel.

Members say that although the church’s location has changed over the years, the strength of its congregation continues to flourish, faithfully serving the Lord and spreading the gospel.
