Record Low Smashed Wednesday Morning, Rain Chances Bleak on Thursday!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
We were treated to the coldest August morning in over 20 years. The last time we fell down to 50° or cooler in August was during a very rare cold blast in 2004 when we fell down to 47°. That was the coldest August weather ever recorded in Jackson between August 12-17, each morning was 51° or cooler setting 6 consecutive days of record lows. This morning was the coldest morning as well since May 5th, about 120 days ago. Highs may not hit 80° on tomorrow as Thursday will bring out best shot for rain this week and unfortunately, most of us are going to miss out. We will tell you who has the best chance of getting wet tomorrow plus your Friday night and Labor Day weekend forecasts coming up here.

THIS WEEK:
Skies cleared out Tuesday night allowing temperatures to drop quickly overnight into Wednesday morning. Most of us feel down to around 50°, the coolest morning in months. We saw plenty of sunshine early Wednesday before the clouds returned in the afternoon and evening hours. Highs on Wednesday still reached the low to mid 80s and we will drop down to around 60° for Thursday morning under a mostly cloudy sky and calm winds.

The best shot for rain this week is coming in on Thursday. A few weak storms will be possible but it looks like just typical rain chances for most of us. Like Monday, the best shot for measurable rain is going to be southwest of Jackson. Some areas northeast of Jackson may not see any rain at all and places near Memphis could pick up an inch of rain. All of us will be dealing with mostly cloudy skies and that will keep the temperatures down with highs only reaching the mid to upper 70s on Thursday. Thursday night lows will fall down to the mid 50s again. Some of the rain chances could linger into Friday morning but by Friday afternoon, dry and mild weather will be returning. Highs on Friday will reach the low to mid 80s and the weather looks great again for Friday night Football in West Tennessee.

LABOR DAY & WEEKEND:
Both days this weekend look pretty nice and mild across the Mid South. Highs will reach the mid 80s and morning lows will drop down to around 60° both day. Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. The winds will come out of the northeast all weekend long keeping the humidity down as well. Shower chances as of now appear to be 10% or less for both days. Highs will reach the upper 80s to near 90° for some of us and morning lows will be in the low 60s. The winds will be light and come out of the northeast all weekend long keeping the humidity down. Make some plans this weekend, it looks like a great one for a BBQ for the first Saturday of college football for most teams in our area.

There could be a few more showers as we kick off next week but confidence is low in that forecast at this time. Chances for rain on Labor Day are 30% with the best chances being areas near the Tennessee River. A few showers may linger into Tuesday but rain chances seem unlikely during the middle and end of the following work week. Highs on Labor Day with still be in the upper 80s with morning lows in the low 60s.
