Decatur Co. EMA releases update on fire at GSM Outdoors

PARSONS, Tenn.—Decatur Co. Emergency Management Agency released the following update on the fire that occurred at GSM Outdoors in Parsons.
The following information was released on Facebook by Decatur County Emergency Management:
Structure Fire Response – GSM Outdoors, Parsons, TN
Aug. 30, 2025
Currently, the structure is still smoldering and smoking. This will continue for a few days possibly. The factory per Manager and operators stated no hazardous chemicals were stored within the factory. However out of precaution Selmer Fire Department was requested to do Air monitoring test around the scene and down wind in nearby neighborhoods. No hazards were found. Please continue to stay out of the area.
On Friday, Decatur County 911 received a call at approximately 12:28PM reporting a structure fire at GSM Outdoors in Parsons. Upon arrival, it was immediately clear that additional resources would be needed, and an all-call was issued to fire departments across the county.
Support was requested from surrounding agencies:
• Lexington City Fire Department responded with their ladder truck.
• Madison County Fire Department provided two trucks and four personnel.
• Chester County Fire Department for personal.
• Air Evac 141, located near the fire, was temporarily evacuated for safety.
• Nearby residents were also asked to evacuate as a precaution.
• National Weather Service for weather and smoke plume monitoring.
• Tennessee Emergency Management Agency
• Selmer Fire Department for Air Monitoring.
Several firefighters sustained minor burns and heat exhaustion. A few were transported to Henderson County Community Hospital and are in good condition. Others were treated on scene by EMS crews.
EMS support was crucial throughout this response. In addition to Decatur County EMS, the following agencies assisted both at the scene with medical triage and treatment along with other emergency calls across the county:
- Henderson County EMS
- Perry County EMS
- Hardin County EMS
- Medical Center EMS
- Houston County EMS
- TN Dept. Of Health Division of EMS
- Jackson-Madison County Health Department
City of Parsons Fire and Police, Utility Department, Decatur County Rescue Squad, Decatur County Fire Department and Decatur County Sheriff Department, Lexington Electric and Decatur County 911 all came together with these other agencies to protect the citizens of Parsons and Decatur County.
This incident highlights the strength of teamwork and mutual aid. Agencies from across West Tennessee came together to protect lives and property, and we are proud to serve alongside them.
