Local judge issues warning on ‘fentanyl-laced vape’
GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Gibson County Juvenile Court Judge Mark Johnson is issuing a warning to parents about vaping.
In a social media post made Tuesday morning, Johnson says he was informed by a colleague in another county that recently, a child nearly died from a fentanyl-laced vape.
Johnson goes on to say that child could now be facing permanent organ damage.
While it’s unclear what type of vape or where it was acquired, the post serves as a reminder that vaping can be dangerous, and urges parents to pay attention to what their child is doing.

In recent years, vaping has taken the place of “dipping” and smoking as a violation of the tobacco age law. Many vapes contain THC which, in juvenile court, is possession of drug paraphernalia.
Other drugs are now becoming part of the vaping scene. One is fentanyl. As most know, fentanyl is a highly toxic and dangerous drug leading to death or serious harm. One of my colleagues, in another county, recently had a child before him who used a fentanyl-laced vape and almost died. Post-surgery, she may be facing permanent damage to internal organs.
Parents, please pay attention to what your children are doing. And please work with your child’s school to help insure not only their education but also their safety. Vapes are dangerous and can be fatal.
