Educator of the Week: Miranda Stricklin
It’s time now to recognize our Educator of the Week, brought to you by the Tennessee Education Lottery.
Miranda Stricklin is a curriculum and instructional facilitator at Hardin County Middle School.
She tells us how the love and support she was given by past teachers growing up influenced her to pursue a career in education.
“I was very blessed with some fantastic teachers. Elementary school, I went to a very small elementary school and I actually came though Hardin County Middle School here and graduated from Hardin County High School,” Stricklin said.
Stricklin also says she chose education so that she could be there for her family.
“I started back to college after I had two children, so it also worked well with their schedules and my schedules,” Stricklin said. “I was able to spend a lot of time with them as they were growing up as well.”
Stricklin has been apart of Hardin County Middle School for 20 years.
She shares what her favorite part of being a curriculum and instructional facilitator is.
“Getting to see them grow in all aspects, from their educational stand point to their emotional stand point and their physical stand point, because they start as sixth graders here and then by the time they’re eight graders, it’s also like they’re unrecognizable in some cases.”
Stricklin says to be an instructor, you need to be emotionally ready for what ever might be thrown at you.
She shares some advice for aspiring teachers.
“Don’t get overwhelmed, it is very easy in today’s world and society to get overwhelmed. The span of needs all of our students have is incredible and can definitely be overwhelming if you let it be.”
Stricklin is now eligible for the Tennessee Education Lottery Educator of the Month award.
