September marks National Healthy Aging Month
JACKSON, Tenn. — September is often thought as a month for resetting habits as summer ends and school begins.
September is also National Healthy Aging Month, a time to evaluate and re-set habits designed to prevent disease and live a healthy, active lifestyle regardless of age.
Created in 1992 and officially recognized by the U.S. Senate in 2021, Healthy Aging Month focuses on the importance of including and maintaining physical, mental, and social well-being at every stage of life.
“Healthy aging isn’t just about adding years to your life, but also to make sure that those years are healthy and meaningful and connected for you,” said Dr. Valerie Fuller, president of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
With a PHD and DNP in nursing and dual certified as an adult gerontology acute care and family nurse practitioner, Dr. Fuller has 34 years of health care experience, including 27 years as a nurse practitioner.
