Lee Ella Land

Mrs. Lee Ella Land, 89, of Union City went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Obion County Nursing Home.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Rev. Chad Gibson will officiate. Entombment will follow at Obion County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Ken Asher, Paul Babel, Charles Coleman, Scott Curtis and Donald French.

Mrs. Land was born September 27, 1935, in Iuka, Mississippi, daughter of the late John Fitzpatrick and Maude (Berryman) Fitzpatrick. She married George Edward Land May 30, 1953. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2018.

Lee Ella had worked at Salant & Salant in Union City before obtaining her LPN license. She was employed by the former Obion County General Hospital starting in 1973 and retired in 2003 from Baptist Memorial Hospital – Union City.

Mrs. Land was a member of First Assembly of God in Trimble. Before her health began to decline she served in various areas of the church including secretary/treasurer, organist/pianist, soloist and trio emsemble member.

As a resident of the Obion County Nursing Home since November 2022,  Lee Ella enjoyed participating in church services, where she played the piano and sang special music. She enjoyed playing Bingo and participating in other activities at the nursing home. Lee Ella had many friends among the residents and appreciated all the care given to her by the staff of the nursing home.

Mrs. Land is survived by her children, Karen (Jimmy) Christian of Union City, Sharon (Bill) Robinson of Grapvine, Texas, Carla Thompson of Union City, Susan Nichols of Shallowater, Texas, Mark (Patti) Land of Memphis and Carl (Nancy) Wagster, Jr. of Gainesville, Georgia whom she and her husband helped raise; seven grandchildren, Greg Thompson (Krystal Hammond), Casey Robinson, Cameron (Jolene) Nichols, Megan (Patrick) Newburn, Josh (Jennifer) Nichols, Jenna (Mark) Hall; one step granddaughter, Patti (Chris) Gouger; eleven great grandchildren, Kaileigh Cloud, Emily Nichols, Dylan Nichols, Cameron Thompson, Kade Weber, Audrey Newburn, Kurt Nichols, William Newburn; three step great grandchildren, Emily Gouger, Ryan Gouger and Daniel Gouger; one great grandchild, George Hall; one great great grandchild, Reuben Mata; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Elvie Underwood, Bertha Nanney, Eva Guthrie and Bernice Johnson; three brothers, Lonnie Fitzpatrick, R.L. Fitzpatrick and Jerry Fitzpatrick; and two sons-in-law, Mike Nichols and Russell Thompson.
