4th Annual Red Cap Classic golf scramble raises funds for St. Jude

PIINSON, Tenn. — West Tennesseans put their skills to the test in this year’s annual charity golf tournament.

The 4th Annual Red Cap Classic golf scramble returned to West Tennessee.

Hosted by Farm Bureau Insurance of TN, in partnership with St. Jude, this charity golf tournament helps support the children and families receiving care at the research hospital.

“We have partnered with St. Jude, Farm Bureau has. Like I said this is our fourth year doing this. We play golf in the morning, play golf in the afternoon, have lunch in between, and we have a lot of sponsors and a lot of guys that like to come out and like to support a good cause,” said Rob Deloach, Agency Manager, Farm Bureau Insurance, Crockett County.

This event brings together local businesses, families, and community members to unite in the fight against childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

“If you have a kid or a family that’s ever been a patient or ever been taken care of at St. Jude, them not having to pay a dime for that coverage and that treatment and that care. And they go out of their way to think about everything for the kid and for the family,” Deloach said.

With 38 teams, 152 golfers, and 185 sponsors, event organizers hope to reach their overall goal of $275,000, with all proceeds benefiting St. Jude.

Deloach reflects on the previous success of the tournament, as well as hopes for the future.

“I’d like to say we’d like to get to $100,000 today. You know, we started our first year, I think we were just shy of 50, and then we made it to 60, made it to 80 last year, hoping for 85 this year, and so, the sky’s the limit, you know, when it comes to St. Jude and Farm Bureau,” Deloach said.

This tournament was held at the Woodland Hills Golf & Country Club in Pinson.
