PRESS RELEASE FROM JACKSON STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE:
Jackson State leads Tennessee colleges with continued enrollment increases
Boasts 15.6% increase in full-time enrollment for fall
JACKSON, TENN. – Jackson State Community College (JSCC) has taken the top spot amongst all two-year colleges with a 16.7% total enrollment and 15.6% full-time enrollment increases from last year’s fall semester, the highest enrollment increases in both categories across the state of Tennessee.
This follows a record setting semester in the fall of 2024, when the college boasted the highest first-time freshman (+22.3%) and total enrollment (10.2%) percentage increases of any community college or public university in Tennessee. This past spring, the college then saw sizeable growth in total enrollment (13%) along with full-time enrollment (15.5%) increases over the previous spring, landing the college as the second highest enrollment increases among all community colleges in the state.
This fall, the college once again leads the state in first-time freshman (+12.2%) and has also seen a sizeable increase in dual enrolled students (+18.3%) following the announcement of JSCC’s Middle College program.
“The past three years have been pivotal for Jackson State, and students across West Tennessee are making Jackson State their top choice to receive a quality education,” said Dr. Carol A. Rothstein, President of JSCC. “Every day, I see on full display the passion and determination of our faculty and staff to see our students succeed and transform their lives for themselves and their families. The work we do not only uplifts our students, but their families and West Tennessee as a whole. We are the smart, savvy choice, and I believe this growth shows that students see that.”
Outside of growth in percentage points, the college’s enrollment has now grown to exceed 4,000 – an enrollment number the college hasn’t seen since prior to the pandemic and has grown by nearly 1,000 students since fall 2023.
The college also continues to see long-term growth, with a full-time enrollment increase over the past four years of 13.9% and since fall 2024, saw a 17.8% student retention increase.
The college is now enrolling for the spring semester at jscc.edu
