Mid 90s Back Today, Few Pop Ups, Getting Hotter into the Weekend!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Highs have returned to the mid 90s today in West Tennessee as that warm front moves through the region. It is sparking up a few pop ups today with all of them being east and south of Madison county so far. Almost all of us will miss out on the showers this evening and this is our best shot for rain until the middle of next week unfortunately. Highs will reach the upper 90s to near 100° as we get going into the weekend and early next week. We will have your Friday night and weekend forecasts coming up right here.

THIS WEEK:
To start the week, a large area of high pressure was sitting to the northeast of us and that allowed for a cold start to the work week. That area of high pressure is getting get cut off by a low pressure system down in Florida that is sliding up the Mid-Atlantic coast line this week. That is pushing the high pressure to the south but it will be pushed back to the east by a warm front on Thursday. Under that warm front, temperatures will get even hotter. The winds will start to come out of the south and highs will continue to climb. Under the front, we could be back up into the upper 90s by the weekend and even setting some 45 year old temperature records.

The warmup continued on Wednesday with highs making it back up into the upper 80s or low 90s again. Skies were mostly sunny and the winds were light and came out of the south. The humidity only went up a bit and the overall dry pattern allowed temperatures to cool down to the low to mid 60s again for our Thursday morning. Thursday remained nice and was even hotter under the warm front. Highs reached the mid 90s for most of us on Thursday and the winds were again light and varied in direction as the day went on but will turn to the southeast Thursday night as the front passes. Thursday night lows dip down to the mid 60s.

Friday is going to be another great day and perfect weather this week for Friday night Football. There will be no weather delays this week as chances for rain all week long are less than 5%. Highs on Friday will be close to the record of 98° set back in 1980. We will likely fall short by a degree or two but it is still going to be a hot one. The humidity will be low as the winds will be light and come out of the north. Friday night lows will fall down to the low to mid 60s to kick off the weekend.

THE WEEKEND:
High temperature records are in Jeopardy this weekend across West Tennessee. Highs will reach the mid to upper 90s and even a 100° or two cannot be ruled out for some of us across the region. The records are 96° on Saturday and 98° on Sunday. As of now, the record that will most likely fall will be on Saturday. We are also expecting mostly sunny skies this weekend with a few more clouds on Sunday than Saturday. The winds on Saturday will come out of the east and turn to the southeast on Sunday increasing the humidity a bit. Overall, it will NOT be a humid weekend regardless though for summertime weather in West Tennessee. Nice weather is expected to continue as we kick off next week. Not only is rain NOT in the forecast this week, but it is also not in the forecast this weekend. The drought situation is increasing and the little rain we did get last week helped, but surely not enough.
