Thursday is Election Day in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Tenn. — The City of Lexington is holding a municipal election for a new mayor, alderman positions, and school board seats.
One candidate expressed that local residents are seeking transparency within city government.
With the past three city elections, there has only been a turn out of around 800 people.
This year, that number has sky-rocketed to 2,000 voters, with early voting being held August 22 to September 6.
Thursday, voters had to go to their designated voting precinct, including the Broad Street Church of Christ, the old P-K Kidd Preschool near First Baptist Church, and the TCAT center.
Candidates are urging residents to vote while there’s still a chance to make your voice heard.
“I would just encourage everyone to come out and vote. Your vote is your voice. If you want to see change in our city, today is the day,” said alderman candidate Donna Ross.
The polls close at seven Thursday evening and election results are expected to be available later in the night. Click here for the Henderson County Election Commission’s website.
