Her book, “Momma, I Want to Read,” is a heartfelt and empowering children’s book that celebrates the joy of reading, power of curiosity and essential role of parents in early childhood education.

In recognition of her advocacy for youth literacy, Mayor Scott Conger has issued a proclamation declaring that September 13 be known as “Momma, I Want to Read Day.”

Dr. Mayberry says that her love for reading started young and that she hopes to continue the tradition.

“Due to the love of reading my parents instilled in me at a young age, I was inspired to write and illustrate ‘Momma, I Want to Read.’ My parents would often take my siblings and me to the library, where we would write our own stories. Now, I love encouraging my own daughters to read and create stories together. I’m passionate about sharing the fundamental importance of reading with students, educators, and families everywhere,” said Dr. Mayberry.

Dr. Mayberry will be signing copies of her book on Saturday from 2 pm to 4 pm at Books-A-Million, which is located at 1081 Vann Dr Ste 106.

“Momma, I Want to Read” is available nationally and locally online at Books-A-Million, Barnes & Noble, Target, Amazon and Walmart.
