Accessible voting, election results on the agenda during Henderson Co. Election Commission meeting

LEXINGTON, Tenn. — The Henderson County Election Commission had several items on the agenda during a meeting Monday evening.

In August, the Henderson County Election Commission started early voting for the 2025 municipal election for Lexington.

On the ballot, candidates for mayor and aldermen positions 4, 5, & 6, and Lexington City School Board positions 1, 2, 5, and 6.

Administrator of Elections Robin Powers tells us they now have a more accessible means of voting for residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

“We send out notice to the activities director and the directors of the facilities on what day we’re coming and what day we’ll be there. We hire election workers and we give everyone the opportunity to come on that day,” said Powers.

In the municipal election results, Gordon Wildridge was elected Mayor of Lexington, Donna Ross takes Lexington aldermen position 4, Jimmy White takes aldermen position 5, and Chip Clark was elected aldermen in position 6.

In the Lexington School Board Election, Chadwick Wood was elected to the school board in position 1, Carl Cooley won school board position 2, Ann Anderson won school board position 5, and Jim Terry takes school board in position 6.

Powers says their board of commissioners make sure to prioritize aiding the residents that can’t make it to the polls themselves.

“Early voting is two weeks prior to election day and we vote the nursing home before early voting, so we’ll have enough workers to go out and get is covered,” said Powers. “We’ll have three elections next year, so the nursing home residents and all the elderly will have the opportunity to get their ballots casts next year.”
