Meeting held in Jackson to discuss growing concerns surrounding Kratom
JACKSON, Tenn. — A meeting was held Monday offering information to the public concerning an issue the Jackson City Council brought up and voted on recently.
During it’s monthly meeting on September 2 the Jackson City Council discussed possible legislation to regulate the distribution of kratom, a drug many are saying is highly addictive. There are currently no regulations in the state of Tennessee for Kratom.
Rep. for district 73, Chris Todd, explains his concerns with Kratom.
“The underage sale is certainly something we are very concerned about with vape products and many other products. But there is also a even bigger concern about even adult use of many of these things that are highly addictive. I have a friend who is a doctor in middle Tennessee and he treats addiction and he said kratom for insurance is the most addictive product that he has treated in quite some time,” said Rep. for district 73 Chris Todd (R).
Local lawmakers say they will continue to discuss the issue until it’s under control.
