Gospel Light Baptist Church hosts its Sportsman Sunday

JACKSON, Tenn.—One local church hosts a new event to get its congregation outdoors.

Gospel Light Baptist Church located at 627 Boone Lane in Jackson presented its first ever Sportsman Sunday.

The event kicked off at 11 Sunday morning with a brief tent service that included a message from Pastor Wade Cash.

After the service, the congregation and guests were invited to enjoy a BBQ lunch which included BBQ sandwiches, chips and drinks.

There were also lots of games and other activities available to enjoy. Church members were invited to bring along their bows and try out the archery, BB gun, or even nerf gun ranges.

A unique game of ring toss was available, following the “sportsman theme” that utilized mounted deer antlers to catch the rings.

Along with many games there was also a chance to win door prizes including one grand prize, a Henry Lever-Action .22 Rifle.

“This is the first time we’ve ever done a Sportsman Sunday. We’ve always wanted to do it, talked about, and I have friends that do them but this is the first time that we’ve done it. I like to hunt and fish, my family does, many men in the church do, ladies as well. They enjoy the hunting fishing aspect. We’ve always wanted to, just haven’t until now,” said Wade Cash, Pastor or Gospel Light Baptist Church.

The church plans to make the Sportsman Sunday a new annual event.
