Community unites to remember Eric Jackson, Jr.

JACKSON, Tenn.—Community members are honoring a life gone too soon with a day of unity.

Local residents celebrate the 10th anniversary of Eric Jackson, Jr., who tragically lost his life to gun violence on September 20, 2015.

Tiashia Williams is the coordinator of this occasion.

Their initiative is to celebrate a life well lived while bringing awareness to gun violence with a Community Fun Day.

This day of remembrance and celebration brings together family, friends, and neighbors for an afternoon filled with love, unity, and hope.

“The reason we wanted to do a community event is because Eric was all about showing love. He was a very giving person and very outgoing. So in honor of him, we wanted to just really do something that he would do. He loved the youth. He loved showing love in giving, so we wanted to kind of do something we thought he’d love for us to do,” said Shana Jackson, Mother of Eric.

Guest enjoyed free food, face painting, games, a petting zoo, giveaways, and appearances by special guests.
