Dyersburg Man Charged with Arson
DYERSBURG – A Dyersburg man is scheduled to be arraigned today on multiple counts of arson and evading arrest after allegedly setting fires Sunday evening to a local apartment complex.
David Weir, 19, set two separate fires at St. John Apartments during the early evening hours on Sunday, according to the Dyersburg Police Department. Officers were dispatched to the address regarding Weir three times in less than three hours.
The first complaint was received about a broken window at 6:40 p.m., according to the report. By 9 p.m., officers were dispatched back to the address regarding two fires, one set to a rear door of an apartment and another in a vacant apartment.
Officers identified Weir as a suspect after discovering he was allegedly in a dispute with a family member at the complex, according to the report. His description was given to officers. He was seen watching nearby and was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
