SWAT surrounds home in Jackson, one arrested

JACKSON, Tenn. — Early Tuesday morning, a WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Tipster alerted us of a law enforcement presence in east Jackson.

They were located at a residence on Honeysuckle Drive just off of North Highland.

Neighbors informed us that they heard officers telling residents to walk out of the house just after six in the morning.

“Jackson police. Come outside of the house now,” authorities were captured saying on a neighbor’s Ring camera. “This is the police. We have a search warrant for 16 Honeysuckle. Exit the residence with your hands up at the front door.”

The neighbor alerted us to the situation and we arrived on the scene shortly after. We could see multiple unmarked law enforcement vehicles, a Jackson Police squad car, and a special operations truck outside of the house.

Neighbors told us they heard several loud noises at the house before we arrived.

Just after 7 a.m., officers deployed gas through one of the windows before making entrance. We could heard one officer at the front door state that they have made contact with the individual and know where he is. Shortly after this, we saw officers take the individual out of the house in handcuffs.

“I’m not resisting. I’m not resisting,” the suspect could be heard saying.

The law enforcement officials left the house around 30 minutes later. We are still trying to learn details regarding this situation. We are also trying to learn which law enforcement agency is in charge of the investigation as the Jackson Police Department informed us that they are often assisting other agencies in these matters.

JPD did confirm that their SWAT team and gang units were at the location.

We will continue to give you updates as we learn more on the situation.
