Hardin County school goes into brief lockdown, no threat identified
SAVANNAH, Tenn. — East Hardin Elementary went into a brief lockdown Wednesday after a parent raised concerns to police about an individual.
We spoke with Michael Davis, Director of Schools for Hardin County, who shared that the lockdown occurred just before the dismissal of students.
According to Davis, police were on scene in a matter of minutes and there was no threat to the school or students.
The Savannah Police Department shared this release shortly after the incident.
There was a large police presence at East Hardin Elementary, due to a parent having concern about an individual entering the school. The subject in question was an employee at the school.
Savannah Police Department continued throughout the school to insure the safety of all students and staff.
Although this was a lack of communication; Savannah Police Department would like to acknowledge the staff and SRO of East Hardin Elementary for taking matters seriously and executing the procedure during lockdown.
Davis says that they take matters such as these very seriously and appreciate parents looking out for the students.
