Great for Football & Nice this Weekend, Tropical Showers Next Week?

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

We are watching two tropical systems that are forecast to move north out of the Caribbean this weekend and up near the east coast of the United States. Humberto will likely stay out into the Atlantic, but TD9 (will become Imelda) is forecast to become a hurricane and approach South Carolina on Tuesday. This storm could move inland and stall out over the Appalachians and bring some rain to West Tennessee on Wednesday. There is a still lot that could change as this is a very complicated forecast

THIS WEEK:

Many of us picked up 2-3″ of well needed rain this week. Highs were still near normal most of week even under the clouds. Warmer weather will be returning as the sun is expected to return for the weekend and lingering into next week. The drought monitor didn’t change much but it didn’t count for all the rain we got after Monday so we will expect to see some improvements when it comes out next week. There could also be some tropical showers trying to linger in during the middle of next week but confidence is low in that happening as of now.

Friday morning lows fell down into the 50s for the first time in several days. Friday was a great day across West Tennessee with mostly sunny skies and a light breeze out of the north. Highs reached the low 80s and the winds will be calm after the sun goes down tonight. Friday night football weather again is looking perfect. We should fall into the mid 50s again for Friday night into Saturday morning.

THE WEEKEND:

Great weather is on tap for the weekend across all of West Tennessee. In general expect sunny skies. There will be a few clouds, but not many. Also rain showers are not expected this weekend. Our first weekend of fall will be mild with highs reaching the low to mid 80s and morning lows sticking around between 55-60°. We could warm back up to the upper 80s by next Monday. Take advantage of the weekend weather if you like nice weather because we are not sure how many more of these nice weekends we are going to have as we get deeper into fall. The winds will come out of the northeast all weekend long across the region.

NEXT WEEK:

Plenty of sunshine and warmer weather will be sticking around it looks like for the start of next week. Rain showers are not expected for most of us until the weekend unless Imelda actually reaches us on Wednesday. There will be a few more clouds during the middle of the week but overall, mostly sunny skies will dominate next week. High will reach the mid to upper 80s each day and we will be close to 90° on Monday and Tuesday. The winds are forecast to come out of the north for the first half of the week but will turn to the southeast late in the week. The humidity will be low through Tuesday but will look to increase some in the middle of the week from Imelda as again by next Friday into the following weekend. A cold front could be on the way next weekend but it is too early to have much confidence in the timing or severity of the front as of now as well.
