Person found deceased in parking lot in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — An individual was found deceased in a vehicle in the parking lot of Gold’s Gym on Vann Drive on Tuesday, September 30.

A WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Tipster called us to report the law enforcement presence at approximately 11:30 a.m., and when our crews arrived, there were several police vehicles still on the scene.

According to the Jackson Police Department, authorities do not suspect foul play but they are continuing to investigate the death. The vehicle has out of state tags and officials are working to notify the next of kin.

Police said the death is not associated with Gold’s Gym.

JPD said there was a dog that was also found in the vehicle with the individual. Authorities have taken the dog to a veterinarian in the area to ensure it is up to date on shots and is examined by a veterinarian to ensure the dog is healthy.

JPD said the body will be sent for an autopsy to determine cause of death.
