Person found deceased in parking lot in Jackson

UPDATE (10/6/25): Investigator helps find home for dog found with deceased individual

JACKSON, Tenn. — An individual was found deceased in a vehicle in the parking lot of Gold’s Gym on Vann Drive on Tuesday, September 30.

A WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Tipster called us to report the law enforcement presence at approximately 11:30 a.m., and when our crews arrived, there were several police vehicles still on the scene.

Stephanie Graham, Public Information Officer for Jackson Police Department, met our crews on scene and said that investigators do not suspect foul play but they are continuing to investigate the death. The vehicle has out of state tags and officials are working to notify the next of kin.

Police said the death is not associated with Gold’s Gym.

Graham also said “a dog was also found in the vehicle. One of our officers took the dog to a veterinarian to have it checked out and get its shots.”

She said the body will be sent for an autopsy to determine cause of death.
