Crockett County students learn all things journalism in new ‘CAV Quest’ class
ALAMO, Tenn. — Crockett County Middle School is hosting a new communications class to teach kids about the world of broadcast journalism. In the class, students learn to interview, film, produce, and edit a news broadcast.
Toward the end, students were able to present their work to the class.
“Some of my students, this nine weeks, have realized that they are capable of doing more than they thought they could. Some of them have been pushed out of their comfort zone in a social setting to get some of the news footage that we need, or the interview, or the anchor segments, and I think some of them have found they really enjoy things that they might not have thought they would have liked,” said Hope Owens, CAV Quest classroom instructor at Crockett County Middle School.
This is the middle school’s first year teaching the new class and they plan to continue in 2026.
