Nearly 100 arrests made by Memphis Safe Task Force since its deployment

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The National Guard has officially been seen on the ground in Memphis to carry out the Memphis Safe Task Force operation.

Guard members were first seen at the task force staging area near the Shelby County Corrections Department on Wednesday afternoon.

The National Guard is joined with 13 other law enforcement agencies including the FBI, ATF, and DEA.

At this time, it is not clear how many troops and agents will be present in the city working on this operation.

With this operation now in the works, there are many questions if crime will actually be controlled or if crime will start moving out of Memphis to other cities.

One resident of Memphis expressed that he believes the current citizens of the city will still reside there, even with the undergoing of this operation and the problem is that the citizens only get into altercations with each other.

There is currently no indication of how long the National Guard will be in the city.

The most recent report from U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi says that there have been 93 arrests made in total and 28 illegal guns captured in 72 hours.
