Lexington Mayor celebrates retirement after 8 years

LEXINGTON, Tenn. — Lexington Mayor Jeff Griggs celebrated his retirement with friends, family, and city leaders.

Griggs was elected back in 2017 and has served 2 terms. Griggs’ career has spanned generations from working in the restaurant and catering business with his family to becoming an alderman and then Lexington’s mayor.

“It’s been an honor being the mayor of Lexington. I’ve worked with some great people on our city boards, other mayors in other area and we’ve been able to accomplish a lot in those 8 years, and it seems weird though that 8 years went by so fast,” said Griggs.

Griggs also said he decided to pursue politics after his stint at UT Martin’s West Star Leadership Program.
