Students compete in 3rd annual Robo Rumble

JACKSON, Tenn.—Students from across the region compete to see which team is tops!

The 3rd Annual Toyota Tennessee Hub City Robo Rumble took place Saturday at Jackson State Community College. The event was held from 8 a.m. until 6 in the evening.

Competition was steep as 48 teams from across the state and region put their skills to the test at the Vex Robotics sanctioned event.

The skill-based tournament has teams competing in a series of challenges to test not only their student-designed robots, but coding, mechanical, and strategizing skills.

The competition takes place on a 12 by 12 Vex Robotics field and really challenges the students ability to function as a team.

“I’m feeling pretty good about today. So far we’ve won three matches and lost two. I’m pretty proud of our bot and the time that we had and I think we’re doing really well,” said Jaxen, Team member on 6154p Robo Dojo.

The free event was made possible by its title sponsor Toyota and other generous sponsors from across the area.

Winners from today’s competition will move on to compete at the State Championship to be held at Austin Peay State University early next year.
