Cypress Grove Nature Park celebrates 40 years
JACKSON, Tenn.—One local park is celebrating its 40th anniversary in Jackson.
Cypress Grove Nature Park, located at 866 Airways Boulevard, is more than your average park and Saturday it hosted a special event to celebrate 40 years of existence.
The event hosted by the City of Jackson in coordination with Jackson Parks and Recreation, kicked off at 10 a.m. and continued until 2 p.m..
The day included an opening ceremony recognizing significant individuals who are a part of Cypress Grove’s rich history, while also acknowledging those who remain a pivotal part of its continued success.
For nature lovers, there were guided walking tours to admire various wildlife, and learn about the preservation efforts and history of the park.
The event also included live music featuring local artists, food trucks and a crafts area for guests to enjoy.
Cypress Grove is loved for its various amenities including gazebos, picnic areas, visitor center, and observation tower. It also offers a wide range of educational opportunities like its unique raptor center.
“I think it’s a wonderful park. I’m so happy that they are restoring it. I hope it stays in good condition so we can enjoy it in the future,” said Ben Langford, Jr., Jackson resident.
The park originally opened in October of 1985, adding its raptor center almost ten years later. The park is open to visitors all year long.
