Jackson YMCA releases statement following temporary closure due to staffing challenges
JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson’s YMCA Early Learning Center has released a statement following a temporary closure.
“The YMCA Early Learning Center in Jackson, Tennessee, is continuing its temporary closure, which we anticipate will last for about 2 weeks.
This temporary closure allows the YMCA to address staffing challenges, including the recent departure of the Center Director and several teaching staff, which have left some classrooms without necessary coverage to fulfill ratio requirements from DHS and the YMCA.
The YMCA is finalizing a resolution with DHS and is now focused on reopening the center.
The finalization of the new leadership team will be the determining factor for the timeline for reopening the center.
“Reliability, safety, trust, and quality care remain our top priorities,” said Rosalind Johnson, SVP of Child Learning & Education of the YMCA. “Proper staffing ratios are essential to child safety, and we take that responsibility seriously. We are taking the time now to ensure every classroom is fully supported before we welcome children back.”
An in-person parent meeting will be scheduled soon to provide more updates, reintroduce members of the YMCA senior leadership team, and answer questions.
We understand this closure may create challenges for families. Please know that no billing will occur during this time, and the YMCA will waive all fees if families have to choose alternative care options. For questions regarding billing or enrollment, families may contact customerservice@ymcawesttn.org for direct assistance.”
