Great for Football Tonight, Storms Likely, Some Severe, After Sunset on Saturday!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Storms will return to West Tennessee Saturday with the majority of them and the possible severe weather threat coming after the sun does down. That being said, and although chances are low, there could be a few individual storm cells out in front of the main line that could try to rotate and produce a tornado. Confidence in these forming is low but possible for sure! Along with the potential rogue supercell threat between (6-10pm), a gusty straight line wind threat is also expected to move through between (9pm-1am) hitting many of us in West Tennessee.

There is a chance for a brief spin up along the line with those chances being the highest closer to the Mississippi River. The storms are most likely to come through Jackson sometime between 9pm-11pm with gusty winds being the main threat. These storms will weaken as they most east into the overnight hours! Stay weather aware and catch the full forecast right here.

THIS WEEK:
After a fantastic weekend, the great weather lasted for the entire work week for all of West Tennessee. The nice weather will be hanging around on Friday night into Saturday morning but changes are coming by Saturday evening/night. This is our first threat for severe weather during what we call our “Second Severe Weather Season!” The set-up is going to bring severe weather with it, but the timing of the storms will determine the severity of the event for us here in West Tennessee. As of now, we are expecting this to be a late evening and early nighttime event on Saturday, but if the timing is sped up, we could be in the middle of the severe threat instead of near the end. Please stay weather aware this week and monitor forecasts from the WBBJ 7 Storm Team Weather Center.

The winds shifted to the east on Thursday and will came back out of the south on Friday. This increased the humidity as the southerly winds tapped into some gulf moisture. This increased the clouds some on Friday as well but in general we saw a partly cloudy finish to the work week. Highs still reached the mid 80s for both Thursday and Friday and morning lows will only fall to the mid 60s for our Friday night. Friday night football again looks great for all the games in West Tennessee. Kick off will be in the mid 70s and upper 60s by the 4th quarter. Not jacket or umbrella will be needed for the games tonight.

THE WEEKEND:
The greatest threat for strong and possibly severe storms in a couple months looks to be returning to West Tennessee. As we get deeper into October we start to kick off what we call our Second Severe Weather Season. In the fall, it is not abnormal to encounter severe and dangerous weather. The set-up coming this weekend looks like a classic fall severe weather set-up. As of now, the further west you are, the more likely you will be to be impacted by strong storms on Saturday. This is due to the timing of the storms and they are likely to weaken as they move to the west late in the day on Saturday. All severe weather modes will be in play. We want the system to slow down some for us as that will keep the worst storms west of the Mississippi River. It is going to be a close call for us regardless.

Highs on Saturday will reach the mid 80s but we should cool down behind the front on Sunday with highs only reaching the mid 70s. Expect a mostly cloudy day on Saturday with the clouds clearing out sometime into the afternoon on Sunday. Some of the showers and storms could continue into Sunday morning but we are expecting mostly sunny and dry weather back for our Monday. Morning lows will be in the low to mid 60s through the weekend before falling down to the mid to upper 40s by Monday morning. The winds will shift from the southwest on Saturday to the northwest on Sunday.
