Lucy Jane Hawks
Mrs. Hawks was born to James Swan and Ola Ann Williams on March 4, 1930, and attended Jackson High and Lambuth College.
On June 27, 1948, she married the love of her life, Harold Holland Hawks, and they shared a marriage built on unwavering faith, commitment, and love. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother whose greatest joy was her family.
She is survived by her children Harold Holland “Butch” Hawks, Jr. (Donna), Cathy Johnson (Jim), Jimmy Hawks (Alicia Franco), Mark Hawks (Janna McKnight), Labina Maxwell (late James Maxwell), and Patricia McLemore (John), 17 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren, all of whom brought light and laughter to her life, and whom she adored.
Mrs. Hawks was a lifelong member of Lambuth Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Oxley fellowship class, and actively served in a multitude of church ministries, especially those involving children and youth ministries.
Lucy was a stay-at-home mother until all of her children reached school age, at which time she pursued a career and retired as a Purchasing Agent with Owens Corning Fiberglass. Continuing support of her children’s church ministries and school functions, she also engaged in numerous community services projects including Reelfoot Rural Ministries, the Jackson Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, RIFA, and Habitat for Humanity. She was proud to be included in mission work to Nicaragua and recovery efforts following Hurricane Katrina.
She was an avid gardener, a gifted cook, and held a motherly presence to many beyond her own family. Quiet in her generosity and steadfast in her faith, Lucy lived a Christian life while serving, loving, and encouraging others without seeking recognition.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Holland, her parents, Swan and Ola Williams, her sisters, Ida Mildred Williams, and Clara Ann Williams Brewer, and a niece, Genieva (Jennie) Brewer.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Lambuth Memorial United Methodist Church, 160 Campbell Street, Jackson, Tennessee. Family will receive visitors at the church from 10 AM until 11: 45 AM. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to RIFA or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Lucy’s memory.

The family extends a warm appreciation to the Gentiva Hospice Care givers and administration for their love and care.
