Local leaders give it their all for annual Dancing with the STARs competition
JACKSON, Tenn. — The stars are shining here in West Tennessee.

Some big names from across the region put on a show in downtown Jackson all for a good cause.
One of the STAR Center’s marquee fundraising event returned to the Carl Perkins Civic Center tonight for six pairs of dancers to show off their hard work.

We’ve got mayors, school presidents, organizational presidents, realtors, just about anything you could think of that would end you up as a Star in West Tennessee. There’s probably at least one person on this stage that you’ll recognize Friday night.
The show opened up with a video from Clay Elliot, someone who has received help from the STAR Center over the years and now has the ability to give back.
After the video, the senior performing members of Ballet Arts of Jackson performed a routine to Queen’s 1979 hit “Don’t Stop Me Now.”

The first performance was Hunter Rose and Colleen Commage. They captivated audiences with fan pops and channeling their inner cowboy carter.
Shortly after, City of Bolivar Mayor Julian McTizic and Jackson State President Dr. Carol Rothstein stole the show with their ‘Grease’ inspired routine. The physically demanding routine showed plenty of strength and endurance from both dancers.
Awards will be given out at the end of the show for biggest fundraiser, highest dance score and a people’s choice award.
The STAR Center’s next big fundraiser, Black Tie Boxing, is already sold out of tickets.
