‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ program focuses on providing holiday joy to those in need
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Home Instead “Be a Santa to a Senior” program in Jackson, is an annual initiative to provide gifts to seniors in need, particularly veterans in West Tennessee.

In previous years, this has involved a Christmas tree at the local Home Instead office decorated with ornaments bearing seniors’ names and wish lists, allowing community members to purchase and donate gifts.
The program has been ongoing for at least 10 years. Participants can take an ornament from the tree and buy the gifts listed on the wish list.
The program focuses on providing Christmas gifts to seniors in the West Tennessee area.
“It’s a tremendous opportunity to serve and give back to those that have given everything. And it’s always such a joy when we have the opportunity to spend a little extra time loving on folks that need it so very much, and this is just a special way to do that. But we also want to move forward in mind that veterans matter, and our senior veterans they need that extra touch this holiday season,” said Brooke Childers, director of operations for Home Instead.
Here’s how to participate, look for a decorated Christmas tree at the home instead location in north Jackson, located at 196 Cheyenne Drive. The ornaments will have wish lists for seniors.
The program typically runs during the holiday season, with events like ornament trees being set up in early November.
