Madison Academic celebrates top ranking
JACKSON, Tenn. — One local school celebrates a huge accomplishment with a grand bash.

Madison Academic Magnet High School celebrated being ranked the top public school in West Tennessee.
The grand bash was thrown by Superintendent Dr. Marlon King.
The bash had several activities for the students to enjoy, including a costume contest, food trucks, face painting, live music from a DJ, and bouncy houses.

Principal of Madison Academic Chad Guthrie says this couldn’t have been possible without the families of the students, and that he is proud of the achievement.
“We love our kids and we try to push them to prepare them for after high school and college, and they will come up and meet those goals and they show that every day,” Guthrie said.
Madison Academic Magnet High School was founded in 2003 and is located on the campus of the University of Memphis Lambuth.
Deputy Superintendent of Jackson-Madison County Schools, Vivian Williams, says that the location of the school has been beneficial for the students to engage in more dual enrollment courses.
She also says that the school system is honored to offer a school like this for the residents of Jackson.
“We are really really excited,” Williams said. “This is great for us and for our families, and that’s what we want to continue to do, is provide this type of school environment for our families and an option for many of our students.”

Madison Academic is also ranked #7 overall in the State of Tennessee.
The Jackson Madison County School System plans on continuing to be innovative and work on ways to improve so the school keeps being successful.
