SAR Tree Dedication
JACKSON, Tenn. — One community gathers for a dedication ceremony in West Tennessee.
The Sons of the American Revolution dedicate a new Liberty Tree at Poems Historic Park this weekend to commemorate America’s 250th Anniversary. The East Main Street neighborhood, one of the oldest in Jackson, provides a fitting setting for the dedication.

All fifteen historic homes on the block are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and once belonged to some of Jackson’s earliest leaders in business and politics.
“So Poems Historic Park was started in the 1980’s by individuals who wanted to preserve the historic homes in Jackson, Tennessee. Many of them were being used for illegal activities and many of them did not want this to happen, so they began buying the homes, renovating the homes by themselves, helping their neighbors and taking these houses back to their original conditions,” said Peter Frost, President of Poems Historic Park.
The dedication ceremony celebrates the enduring values of independence and democracy that continue to define the United States 250 years after its founding.
