Nice for a Few Days, Rain Back on Friday and VERY Cold Early Next Week!

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

It has been a sunny and nice Tuesday across West Tennessee and nice weather will stick around for a few more days. A weak dry cold front will drift through late Wednesday but will stall out and be pushed back to the north on Thursday. Highs will approach the mid 70s the next few days. Showers and some storms are expected to move in during the middle of the day on Friday. As of now, the severe threat in our looks low but cannot be ruled out. A strong front will push through this weekend and morning lows will fall into the 20s early next week. Highs may only reach the mid 40s on Monday. One of the forecast models is even suggesting a shot for some snow flurries but that seems unlikely at this time but it is worth monitoring as the week progresses. Catch the latest right here.

THIS WEEK:

After a soggy Saturday, we dried out on Sunday and the clouds cleared out Monday morning on the back side of the cold front making for a chilly start to the work week. Everyone was cold enough for a frost and some locations fell down between 30-32° seeing our first round of freezes this fall. The next chance for a freeze will not be here until early next week as warmer weather is on the way this week.

Tuesday was a very nice day with morning lows around 40° and high temperatures around 70° by the early afternoon hours. We also saw another day packed full of sunshine with rain showers no where to be seen. The winds were light out of the southwest and will turn up calm again later tonight. Tuesday night lows will drop down to the mid 40s.

There will be a weak front that may pass through or stall out on Wednesday but it isn’t going to impact our weather in any way. Highs will reach the low to mid 70s with mostly sunny skies. As the front passes there will be some clouds moving through but no rain showers are expected from the front. The winds could shift from the southwest to the northeast for a brief period before changing back to the southeast on Thursday as the front will lift back through. Wednesday night lows will also fall to the mid 40s and Thursday highs will again reach the low to mid 70s with mostly sunny skies.

The next system that will bring noticeable chances to West Tennessee and the Mid South is coming in on Friday. The low pressure system and cold front will bring showers and storms with it. As of now the severe weather threat appears to be low but that could change over the next couple days as the system gets a little closer and we have a better idea of where the highest amounts of energy from the system is going to be located. We will also have a better idea of when the showers will be showing up and if they might be impacting the football games on Friday night by the middle of the week. Highs on Friday will reach the low 70s before the showers start and Friday night lows will drop into the mid 40s.

THE WEEKEND:

The weekend weather forecast is a bit tricky as we are expecting the cold front that sparked up the rain on Friday to move through on Saturday. Depending on the timing of the Saturday front we could hit the low 70s or only reach the 60s. We cannot rule out a couple showers on Saturday as the front passes but we are not expecting much if we see any rain at all from the front passing. We are going to be much cooler on Sunday and into Monday next week. Saturday night lows are forecast to be in the mid 40s as some clouds are still expected to be hanging around. Sunday highs will reach the mid 50s but Sunday night will fall back down near or below freezing around 30°. Expect a mostly sunny but cool day on Sunday and clear skies Sunday night into Monday morning.

NEXT WEEK:

The coldest weather by fall this fall is coming early next week. Highs on Monday may only reach the mid 40s and Monday night lows will drop as low as the mid 20s. We should see sunny skies on Monday but it is going to be cold. By Tuesday, highs will climb back into the mid 50s. There is even a chance for a few flurries early next week but we are not confident in that scenario playing out at this time but it will be worth keeping an eye on later in the week.
