Local organization celebrates Founder’s Day

JACKSON, Tenn.—One local organization is celebrating a special milestone.

The Jackson City Federation of Colored Women’s and Youth Clubs, Inc. is celebrating Founder’s Day.

A celebration was held at St. James Missionary Baptist Church located at 278 Preston Street in Jackson Sunday afternoon.

The event included a message from keynote speaker Dr. Janice Epperson who is the Superintendent for Humboldt City Schools. 

Guests also enjoyed music from the Liberty Tech High School Choir and soloist Angela Montague Kanish.

“Oh I’m very excited. Always excited about our Founder’s Day. We have an awesome speaker today, we have the Superintendent of the Humboldt City School System, here as our speaker, Dr. Epperson. So, it’s always just a wonderful occasion,” said Erma Johnson, church member.

The Jackson City Federation of Colored Women’s and Youth Clubs, Inc. was established in 1924.
