Children’s Programs at JMC Library November 2025

The library will be closed December 24th, 25th, and January 1st

Story Time: Little ones & their caregivers gather to listen to a story, sing, dance, craft, & make friends. Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays at 10:30. Each week has a theme as follows: National Build JOY Day December 1, 2, 4; Worldwide Candle Light Day December 8, 9, 11; National Day of the Horse December 15, 16, 18; National Month of Giving December 22, 23.

Craft a Gift Afternoon Saturday, December 6 2:00-4:00pm. Drop in to the Program Center to craft a gift or two for the holidays.  We’ll have supplies, but feel free to bring your own!

Story Time with Santa Tuesday December 16 5:00 pm. All ages of children & families are invited to a story & sing-along with Santa followed by crafts, cookies, and a photo-op. Have your list ready and join us for a special holiday evening!

All Ages Afternoon Art Friday at 3:30 pm. December 5, 12. Join us every Friday for art of all kinds! Let your creativity run wild and try new things!

Coding Club 3:30 pm; December 11. Come hang out with fellow programmers and practice your coding! Ages 9+

Get Out of the House & Play Saturday, December 27 10:30-12:30. Just a morning to hang out with Board Games, Pokémon trading cards, and Lego bricks.  Bring your own or use some of the library’s collection.  

“Noon” Year’s Eve Wednesday, December 31 10:30-1:00. No need to stay up til midnight!  Come party with us til noon!  We’ll dance, craft, and play games til the ball drops, then go home & nap!

Get Out of the House & Play the sequel! Friday, January 2 10:30-12:30. Another morning to hang out and play games, Legos, and toys with other kids.

Open Space Hours – Tuesdays, 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm; Saturdays, 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. In the MakerSpace, come use our supplies to work on your passions or try something new!


Teen Programs at JMC Library

JACKSON, Tenn. –  The Jackson-Madison County Library has several ongoing programs for teens and tweens this month.

The library will be closed December 24th, 25th, and January 1st.

Teen Space Hours Ages 13 – 19. Monday – Thursday 2:30-7; Fridays 2:30-4; Saturdays 11-4. 

Holiday Hours Dec. 22 – Jan. 5 11 am to 7 pm Mon-Thurs; 10-4 pm Fri-Sat

Turning 13 in December? Every First Saturday at 12:00 pm. December 6th. Celebrate in the Teen Area with cake and ice cream! Please RSVP if you want your name on the cake at JMCLTeenArea@gmail.com

Teen Advisory Board Every 1st Wednesday 4-5 pm. December 3rd. Come and earn service hours by contributing your ideas and opinions about Teen programming.

Tween and Teen Holiday Crafts Dec. 8, 2:30-7pm Make some Holiday Crafts with us in the Teen Area. All supplies are provided and free!

Tween and Teen Holiday Open House Saturday, Dec. 13, 11 – 1pm. Tweens, teens, & their families are invited to celebrate the season and enjoy light refreshments together in the Teen Area.

Teen Area Study Days December 16, 17. Designated quiet days so you can study for your final exams. Feel free to study with a group or have one of us quiz you! Snacks provided.

Tween & Teen Brown Bag Homeschool Hangout Wednesdays 12:30- 2:30 pm. December 3, 10, 17, 31. Every Wednesday afternoon ages 11 to 19 are welcome to come and hang out in the teen area. Kids can play games, work puzzles, do crafts, or just sit and socialize! Bring a cold lunch!

Dungeons & Dragons Nights are every first and third Thursday at 5:00 pm. December 4 & 18. Our games are currently full, so we are not accepting new players at this time. If you would like to join the waiting list, register with the link: forms.gle/6hrUBNQ9uFzVjJrPA  

Werewolf Game Day Ages 11-19. December 27th 11am-3pm.

Tween and Teen Movie Day December 30, 1-3pm We will be watching The Nightmare Before Christmas in the Program Room – Popcorn Provided!

Starbooks Book Club Last Tuesday Monthly. November 25 at 6 pm at Starbucks, 2034 N. Highland. Join us at Starbucks by the mall for our book club to talk about Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. You can check out the book in person, or on Hoopla Digital with no waiting list! For adults and teens.

Homework help available for Teens in the Teen Area after school for most subjects. Math help higher than Algebra 1 is available Tuesday-Friday.

American Sign Language Practice Mondays at 12:00 pm. Come practice your ASL with other students and Deaf individuals.

Tai Chi is every Tuesday at 10:00 am. Tai chi is a Chinese tradition that is now practiced as a graceful form of exercise.

Stitching Hour is every Tuesday at 2:00 pm. Join others for a cozy session of knitting, crocheting, embroidering, tatting, or any other textile skill. Beginners welcome!

Line Dance every Monday at 6:00 pm and Friday at 11:30 am. Come in and get a great hour of exercise at our line dance classes!

Midwest TN Genealogical Society Second Tuesday at 5:30 pm. December 9th. Presentations and help related to genealogy and local history.
