Jackson resident earns acclaim for jewelry making

JACKSON, Tenn. — A Jackson native has received many major awards and national scholarships for jewelry making.

Elle Jerge, a lifelong Jackson resident, attends the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Jerge is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jewelry degree, and tells us that she has always had an interest in art from a very young age because of her mother.

“She always had me working with beads and doing different things with jewelry, but also all kinds of arts and crafts,” Jerge said. “She used to call me Tinkerbell because I used to take things apart and try to put them back together, so that was my first introduction into the world of art.”

Jerge makes all kinds of jewelry, including rings, necklaces, and earrings. She describes her inspiration for pieces.

“I’m really inspired by cinema and movies and my travels,” Jerge said.

She explains how she made one of her necklaces inspired by her studies abroad in Monaco.

“I took inspiration from the cars to create a chain that is inspired by shapes of the center of the car and the wheels. Then, I also took color inspiration from the ocean there,” she said.

Jerge is the recipient of the Manufacturing Jewelers and Suppliers of America, which provides funds for students who are pursuing a career in jewelry design and related fields.

She is set to graduate from SCAD in the spring of 2026, and hopes to pursue a career in jewelry design and to work for a large jewelry company.
