Few Late Storms Tonight, Cooler Weekend, Chilly Thanksgiving

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

There will be some storms coming later tonight but it seems like 9-10pm is going to be the timeframe for when they might start. Also, the most likely places to see these storms will be along and south of I-40. Most if not all of the football games should be good to go tonight without any delays. That being said, we have been upgraded to a marginal risk (level 1/5) as there is a little bit of rotation in the atmosphere; but the overall buoyancy and energy is low. Catch the latest coming up here.

THIS WEEK:

More rain came in on Thursday and it was quite heavy in the late morning and early afternoon hours. The rain did lighten up in the mid afternoon and any showers will be weak tonight. There was a couple of weak storms on Thursday but nothing close to severe weather or strong storms, Most of the thunder and lightning was south of I-40. Clouds also increased during the day and stuck around through Friday. Highs on Thursday reached the low to mid 70s and Thursday night lows dropped down to around 60°. We remained under the warm front  all day Friday as well. The winds came out of the south Thursday and Friday and were a tad breezy, but will change direction this weekend.

The greatest chances for storms this week appears to be coming in Friday night. After some heavy rain in the morning, we got a decent break in the afternoon before one last round comes in after 9pm tonight. The timing of the late storms and heaviest rain is still being determined but there is a slight chance that some of the Friday night games will be impacted in the second halves south of I-40. Overall this does not look like a big severe weather maker for us but will keep an eye on it as the night goes on. Highs on Friday reached the low to mid 70s and Friday night lows will fall down to the mid to upper 50s. Rain showers will probably continue overnight into early Saturday morning. The winds on Friday came out of the southwest before moving to the northwest when the front passes by late tonight.

THE WEEKEND:

Rain showers will probably hang around on Saturday. There is a shot the rain clears out by Saturday morning but there is also a chances some of the showers linger in the middle of the day as well. Current thoughts are Sunday is more likely to  be dry than Saturday but there is a lot to be determined still on the weekend forecast. Expect a mix of sun and clouds this weekend with the winds in general having a northerly component to them. Usually in November northerly winds means we get a shot for a freeze but there is nothing shows that being likely this time behind the early weekends front. Highs are expected to be in the mid 60s this weekend with morning lows on Saturday in the mid 40s and mid 40s by Sunday morning. We should stay out of the 30s for both Saturday and Sunday nights.

NEXT WEEK:

After a mostly dry weekend more showers and storms are forecast to come back on Monday. There is a shot for some decent storms and a few strong or severe storms will be possible late Monday and some of the rain will linger into Tuesday morning. We should dry on Tuesday afternoon and a dry spell will move in for the back half of the week. A cold blast will move in behind the system on Tuesday and Wednesday highs will only reach the mid 50s at best. We will likely fall down below freezing again on Wednesday night making for a cold start to our Thanksgiving. Highs will only reach the 40s for both Thursday and Black Friday next week, so be prepared for a chilly holiday. Snow showers are not expected and overall we should be dry as well around the holiday.
