Officer-involved shooting in Savannah remains under investigation

SAVANNAH, Tenn. — Late Sunday morning, we received reports that an officer-involved shooting took place on the 100 Block of Malcomb Street in Savannah.

Following protocol, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation took over the investigation at the request of 24th Judicial District Attorney General Neil Thompson.

The latest release from the TBI states:

Preliminary information indicates that officers with the Savannah Police Department were responding to a report of a break-in at a home on the 100 block of Malcomb Street in Savannah. When officers arrived at around 10:15 a.m., they found a man threatening to harm himself. For reasons still under investigation, the situation escalated and an officer shot at the man, striking him. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No law enforcement officers were hurt in the incident.

According to the TBI, this is the 10th officer-involved shooting of 2025 in West Tennessee, and the 45th statewide.

Also according to the TBI, this is the second officer-involved shooting in Hardin County within the last 18 months.

We reached out to Savannah Police on Monday, but we’ve not received a response at this time. Authorities have not released the names of those involved.
