Heaven’s Cradle hosts its tree lighting memorial

JACKSON, Tenn.— A tree lighting ceremony serves to remember a special group of little angels.

Heaven’s Cradle hosted its annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree Memorial Saturday evening in Jackson.

The event took place beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Serenity Garden located at the Jackson Madison County Hospital.

The event welcomes those who’ve suffered perinatal or newborn infant loss to attend and place an ornament on the tree honoring their loved ones.

Heaven’s Cradle is an organization created with support from the Community Foundation to honor babies lost during pregnancy or childbirth and lend support to bereaved families.

The event also included music and treats provided to those who attended.

“Last year, we found out that we were pregnant with a girl and we were very very excited, so we named her Chloe. At our 21 week ultrasound, we learned that Chloe has a diagnosis called anencephaly which means that she would not be with us for long after she was born. Heavens Cradle helped us financially with the cost of here Celebration of Life. They helped us with just ways to honor her memory making and events like this,” said Shayna Otis, Family Member.

The next fundraising event by the organization is its “Craft With Heart This Christmas” on Dec. 11 at 6 p.m.
