Giving Tuesday arrives, bringing support for local organizations
JACKSON, Tenn. — Across the country, millions are giving back for Giving Tuesday. Locally, organizations say every dollar counts, especially heading into the holidays.

The day where millions of people come together to celebrate generosity and kindness has arrived.
Giving Tuesday is a global initiative that encourages people to do good, whether you are donating to nonprofits and organizations or volunteering your time.
“After the hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving, it’s just a reminder to the community to give back to their community,” said Dr. Delita Johnson, Executive Director of Jackson Arts Council.
The Jackson Arts Council is one of many local nonprofits asking for your help this holiday season.

“Our goal today is to reach 5,000 dollars,” Dr. Johnson said.
Your support goes to various programs including the Jackson Art Box, artists grants, events, and more.
“A little bit over 90 percent of what we receive from donors, we give back or we put back into our community by providing grants to our artists, by providing grants to arts organizations,” said Dr. Johnson.
But that’s not all.

The Salvation Army of Jackson is also inviting the community to “give with joy” through online donations.
You can also donate to Leaders Education Foundation to make a lasting impact on a student’s future.

“Any amount given to a nonprofit allows a nonprofit to strengthen their organization,” Dr. Johnson said. “Whatever program they may offer, it’s needed.”
Johnson says any amount given, no matter the amount, goes a long way.
