Jackson Arts Council kicks off 4th annual Holiday Arts Social

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Arts Council and The Ned are getting into the holiday season with an annual event supporting the local art scene.

Thursday night was the 4th annual Holiday Arts Social hosted at The Ned’s upstairs gallery in downtown Jackson.

This annual event offers local artists and arts supporters a chance to mingle over hors d’oeuvres while shopping for local art pieces to bring home for the holidays.

“The art council strengthens the art culture. We have several different programs that we offer here. The Jackson Arts program is one of them so everything that we get coming in we use it toward the development of the various programs that we have in West Tennessee,” said Delita Johnson, executive director for the Jackson Arts Council.

Artists were encouraged to support the growth of local arts by donating a small piece to support the continued work of the Jackson Arts Council.

“The artists are local so if you walk around you’ll see some of the art that they’ve donated to us and we’re also thanking our sponsors and supporters for this year,” said Johnson.

Prices for pieces range from $20-250, most of the works donated were paintings, however, sculptures and photographs were also available.

Whether you wanted porcelain, paint or prose, the Jackson Arts Council had it for sale tonight at The Ned. The art was available to buy from 5:30pm to 7pm Thursday evening.
