Chilly Again Tonight, Mid Week Warm Up & Rain Chances on Friday!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
We fell down to 22° this morning in Jackson with a wind chill in the mid teens and didn’t reach 40° anywhere for our Tuesday in West Tennessee. We will be chilly again tonight with morning lows in the upper 20s on Wednesday with a will chill back down in the low 20s. We should get close to 50° for our New Year’s Eve day and mid 50s are coming as we wrap up the work week. Some showers are expected on Friday with the bulk of the rain being near the Mississippi Border and areas near the Kentucky border might not see much as all. Catch the complete forecast including what appears to be a decent weekend and we could be back into the 60s by early next week; catch it all coming up here.
THIS WEEK:
The weather looks to be pretty quiet for the next week or so across West Tennessee. Highs and lows will be near normal and there will be a few chances for some light showers. No severe weather, snow or ice storms, deep freezes or heat waves are in the forecast for the next 7 days. We could be back into the 60s thought soon and next week things could start to get interesting again.
Tuesday was another cold day with highs only reaching the mid to upper 30s. Everyone fell short of 40° but most of West Tennessee will warm back into the 50s for the remainder of the week. Skies remained sunny during the day and will be mostly clear at night until we get closer to the end of the work week. Tuesday night lows will fall to the mid to upper 20s with a wind chill near 20° by the morning. The warm up will start on Wednesday as the winds will be back to the southwest. Wednesday highs should reach up to around 50° and Wednesday night lows will be around normal and fall down near freezing in the low 30s as we kick in the new year. New Year’s Eve will be chilly, but dry around the region.
For the first day of 2026, some clouds will build back in during the day on Thursday but we should still see plenty of sunshine for the majority of the day. The next system will get closer during the day but not push through until Friday. The winds on Thursday will start our calm but will kick up late in the day out of the southeast and that should help the temperatures climb back into the mid 50s for all of West Tennessee. Thursday night lows will be mild and drop down to around 40°.
The next shot for rain is coming in on Friday and thunderstorms or severe weather seems unlikely at this time. As the low pressure system comes through the Mid South, some weak showers will be possible but rain amounts appear to be low with this system. Highs on Friday will be the warmest of the week and will reach up to the upper 50s to near 60°. Expect a mostly cloudy day on Friday and the rain is not expected until the afternoon at the earliest and all the rain should move our Friday night into Saturday morning. Friday night lows will drop down again to around 40°.
THE WEEKEND:
The weekend is looking pretty nice as of now and the showers coming in on Friday should clear out and not impact your weekend plans. Saturday will be a little cooler behind Friday’s system with highs still making it up to around 50° though. The cooldown will be short lived as highs will be back into the mid 50s by Sunday. Saturday night will be a little cool in the mid 30s and Sunday night lows will be mild and only fall down to the low 40s. Even warmer weather is expected to kick off next week. The winds this weekend will start out of the north on Saturday and turn up calm for the most part on Sunday and back to the south to kick off next week. There will be some early day clouds on Saturday as the system moves out but overall, we should see plenty of sunshine for the first weekend of 2026.
