Chilly Weather Coming in Tonight, Another System Coming Friday Night!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Most of West Tennessee picked up between 0.1-0.2″ of rain this morning. The showers are done and the clouds are about out of the area as well. The winds are steady out of the north between 10-20mph and will weaken some overnight as the cold air moves on in. Temperatures will fall down to the low 20s and the winds will make it feel between 10-15° in the morning on Thursday. Thursday will be sunny but cold all day long. The next system is on the way and will move through late Friday into Saturday morning. We will let you know what it will be bringing our way and have the latest on a chilly weekend coming up here.
THIS WEEK:
The first of two frontal systems this week came though on Wednesday morning. Overall it was a weak front and brought up to 1/4″ of rain to parts of the Mid South. The front didn’t bring any storms or snow showers with it. Highs still reached the low 50s early in the day before the cooler air moves in tonight and Wednesdays night lows will dip down into the low 20s by Sunrise Thursday morning. The winds started out of the west in the morning before turning to the northwest in the afternoon. It was a breezy day as well with sustained winds between 10-20mph during the day. The morning started out cloudy but the skies will clear out overnight and that is why we will be some cold overnight.
The wind chill will be in the teens Thursday morning and it will be a cold day with highs only reaching the mid 30s. It will feel in the 20s most of the day with a brisk northwest breeze. Mostly sunny skies are also expected and the skies will be clear Thursday night into Friday morning making for another cold night with lows in the mid 20s again by Friday morning. Friday the winds will shift back to the southwest in the afternoon and that will warm us back up to around 50°.
The moisture will increase a bit as well leading to some clouds building in during the afternoon and evening as well. There could be some light rain showers in late afternoon and evening hours, but we are not expecting much. A brief period of freezing drizzle or flurries could show up Friday night into early Saturday morning but it will be nothing to be concerned about. Friday night lows will fall down to around 30° and the next round of cold air is coming early in the weekend.
THE WEEKEND:
The big questions in the forecast this week all have to do with what we can expect this weekend. Forecast models have been doing a lot of flip flopping over the last 48 hours as to what is coming our way. The timing and severity of the front as well as the amount of available moisture will be the main factors determining our weather this weekend. As of now we are expecting a mostly dry weekend and a cold one as well. The front should move through early in the day on Saturday and could bring a few flurries but measurable rain over 1/10″ or snow seems unlikely at this from the storm system.
Highs on Saturday will look to be around 40° and Sunday highs are forecast to only reach the mid 30s as of now. Overnight lows both weekend nights look to be around 20°. The winds will come out of the west of northwest this weekend and feels like temperatures in the teens looks likely as of now at times this weekend. There will be more clouds on Saturday than on Sunday. We could get as low as 15-16° for some of us Sunday morning.
