State awards $1.6 million grant to advance Crockett County Industrial Development
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE CROCKETT COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE:
CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. – The Crockett County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that the Industrial Development Board of Crockett County has been awarded a $1,600,834 Site Development Grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) for improvements to the Crockett County Industrial Park.

The grant, announced by Governor Bill Lee and TNECD Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter, will fund property improvements at the industrial park to better position the site for future industrial development, job creation, and long-term economic growth. The funding is part of Tennessee’s Site Development Grant (SDG) program, which is specifically designated for industrial and economic development purposes.
Because this grant is restricted by the State of Tennessee for industrial site development only, the funds may not be redirected for other community projects or uses outside of the program guidelines.
The Crockett County Industrial Park is a 43-acre Select Tennessee Certified Site located in Friendship, Tennessee. Proceeds from the TNECD Site Development Grant will support construction of a 100,000-square-foot building pad, expandable to 200,000 square feet, along with grading and base stone installation for all roadway and parking areas within the industrial park.
“On behalf of the Industrial Development Board of Crockett County, we would like to thank the State of Tennessee for this grant and for its continued partnership in supporting economic growth, as well as Mayor Gary Reasons, Board Treasurer Emily Sullivan, and Charlie Moore for their hard work and efforts in preparing and presenting this grant to the committee,” said Michael Johnson, Chairman of the Crockett County Industrial Development Board.
“On behalf of the Crockett County Mayor’s Office, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development for awarding us a Site Development Grant,” said County Mayor Gary Reasons. “This funding provides a significant opportunity to advance our community’s growth and create new employment opportunities as we develop this site. I would also like to recognize the dedicated efforts of the Industrial Development Board members and everyone who supported the presentation to the state panel. Your contributions were instrumental in securing this award.”
The Site Development Grant program helps communities prepare industrial sites that meet the needs of employers considering expansion or relocation. By investing in site readiness now, Crockett County is taking a proactive step toward attracting new industry, strengthening the local tax base, and creating future employment opportunities for residents.
The Crockett County Chamber of Commerce applauds the Industrial Development Board for securing this competitive funding and remains committed to supporting responsible economic development efforts that benefit the entire community.
