Early this morning at approximately 2:03 a.m., our members, along with multiple other county stations, were dispatched for mutual aid and manpower to assist the Humboldt Fire Department on what was reported as a fully involved structure fire at 2025 McKnight Street in Humboldt. Shortly after the arrival of the extra manpower, the fire appeared to have been successfully put out. It is unclear at this moment what exactly caused the fire, but we are blessed to say that there were no victims or casualties found within the house.

Here are a few important reminders when it comes to fire safety in your home:

• Check your smoke alarms monthly and replace batteries at least once a year.
• Keep cooking areas clear — never leave food unattended on the stove.
• Use space heaters safely by keeping them at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn.
• Avoid overloading outlets and inspect cords for damage.
• Have an escape plan and practice it with your family. Make sure everyone knows two ways out of every room.

Taking these small precautions today can protect what matters most tomorrow.

If you have questions about fire safety, smoke detectors, or would like guidance on creating a home escape plan, we’re here to help. Stay safe, stay prepared.
