70s to Kick Off the Work Week! Rain & Storm Chances this Week/Weekend!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Highs reached the upper 60s today up north and reached the low to mid 70s along and south of I-40 in West Tennessee. We should be close to 70° again on Tuesday, but a cold front is on the way Tuesday night and it will spark up some rain showers Tuesday evening as it approaches and then moves through. We will cool back down to the 50s during the middle of the week for a few mild days. There is a potent low pressure heading for the Mid South this weekend and it will bring some heavy rain to West Tennessee and possibly some strong storms depending on where it sets up on Valentine’s Day. Catch the latest forecast details coming up here.

THIS WEEK:
Hope everyone is enjoying a taste of Spring this afternoon, but don’t get too excited, Spring is still officially about 40 days away still. We might hit 70° again on Tuesday depending on the timing of the next storm system. The first system this week looks relatively weak but a more concerning system is shaping up this weekend. There is a decent shot the worst of it stays just south of us, but it is going to be a close call regardless and will need to be monitored as the week progresses. We are expecting the nice weather to linger into our Monday night with overnight lows only falling to the mid to upper 40s. We are also expecting calm winds with a mostly clear sky overnight. The great weather will continue into Tuesday morning but changes are coming later in the day on Tuesday as the next system will get closer and move through Tuesday night.

Highs will still make it up to around 70° but clouds will be increasing as the day goes on and showers will return for the majority of us in the late evening and last into the nighttime hours before wrapping up before sunrise on Wednesday. The winds will kick up at times in the afternoon and evening as well and come out of the southwest before moving back to the north on Wednesday. Wednesday will be around 15° cooler than Tuesday behind the cold front. Any showers on Wednesday should be gone early in the day and the clouds will break up later in the day as well and clear out some. Highs will only reach the mid 50s on Wednesday and fall close to freezing again by Thursday morning. The north winds on Wednesday will shift to the east on Thursday and that will help keep the temperatures down a bit with highs making it up to the upper 50s on Thursday. Expect another partly cloudy day and night.
Friday night lows will start out around 40° as some clouds are forecast to move in Thursday night. There could be a stalled up front developing later in the day that could produce a few showers, but rain chances are currently only 20-30% for Friday. Friday highs will reach the low 60s and Friday night lows will dip to the low to mid 40s to start the weekend. The winds on Friday will slowly shift to the southeast by Friday allowing the humidity to climb some just in time for the weekend.
THIS WEEKEND:
There is a decent shot for some storm activity this Valentine’s Day weekend in the Mid South and maybe here in West Tennessee. As of now, the bigger threat for severe weather looks to be just south of the Tennessee border but if the position of that low shifts even a little bit to the north, it may become a bigger problem for us and we need to watch it closely this week as the system develops and gets closer to our area.

Highs on Saturday will make it up to around 60° and possibly the mid 60s depending on where the warm sector sets up from the weekend’s area of low pressure. The winds will come out of the south or southeast on Saturday but will move back to the northwest on Sunday as the system clears out. Expect a mostly cloudy weekend with only a few peaks of sunshine on Saturday and even lower chances for sunshine on Sunday. Saturday night lows will fall down to the mid to upper 40s again, depending on that warm sector associated with the incoming system. Sunday will be a little cooler with highs in the mid 50s.
