FHU to Present Makin’ Music 49: “Memories in the Makin’,” April 10-11
Henderson, Tennessee – (Feb. 10, 2026) – Freed-Hardeman University is once again gearing up for its biggest musical event of the year, as tickets go on sale for Makin’ Music 49: “Memories in the Makin’.” Performances are scheduled for Friday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 11, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in FHU’s Dryden Auditorium. Admission is $25 for Friday evening, $30 for Saturday’s matinee and $35 for Saturday evening. Tickets may be purchased at fhu.edu/makinmusic.

“As always, our students have poured their hearts and energies into putting together what’s sure to be a fantastic show,” said FHU President David R. Shannon. “Just like this year’s theme suggests, these times are ‘Memories in the Makin’ for everyone involved, and we’re looking forward to experiencing the magic that Makin’ Music brings.”
A campus staple for almost half a century, Makin’ Music showcases the many talents of FHU students — from singing and performing to writing, directing, costuming and more. Each of the five campus social clubs will present an original production, while student hosts and hostesses, emcees and the Makin’ Music Showband entertain weekend crowds for three packed performances.
Hostesses for this year’s production are MacKenzie Elmshaeuser, a child and family sciences major from Boaz, Kentucky; Halle Drue, an early childhood education major from McMinnville, Tennessee; and Haley Hixson, a public relations major from Columbia, Tennessee. Serving as hosts will be David Fain, a business management major from Paris, Tennessee, and Logan Chambers, an accounting major from Benton, Kentucky.
Acting as this year’s emcees are Cooper Pounders, a youth and family ministry major from Ripley, Mississippi, and Raea Duperron, a social work major from Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. Show coordinators are Jaden Bracken, a healthcare administration major from Jackson, Tennessee, and Vallie Evans, a psychology major from Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
The annual Party on the Green will take place Saturday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Bader Green in the center of campus. Visitors and guests may take advantage of food trucks, photo booths, inflatable jumpers for the kids and a Makin’ Music cast member parade at 6:50 p.m. FHU Associates will also sell FHU Brews, teas and student Sunshine Boxes, to be distributed during finals week.
Prospective students and their families are also invited to experience life at Freed-Hardeman University during Maroon and Gold Day Friday, April 10. This special preview event is designed for high school students, transfer students and their families who want a firsthand look at FHU’s academic programs, campus culture and student life. Guests will have the opportunity to connect with current students, faculty and staff, ask questions about academics and student life, and experience the energy of Makin’ Music weekend. Maroon and Gold Day is free to attend, with registration opening in late February. To register for Maroon and Gold Day, to schedule a personalized campus visit or to learn more, visit fhu.edu/visitcampus.
Weekend visitors are also welcome to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday morning, April 11, to celebrate the opening of the new Calendine-Davis Studio. Times and further event details will be released soon.
